Linnea Botanicals is a woman-owned business founded by Beatrice Linnea Bast. Her biophilic design firm was born out of a desire to connect people to the natural world by bringing the outside in.

“Biophilia” is a desire or tendency to commune with nature. She believes that by adding more green into your life it will make you happier and more connected to the natural world.

Linnea holds a BFA from the University of Michigan, a Permaculture Design Certificate from UPISF, and has studied horticulture at CCSF and the New York Botanical Garden.

Growing up in Philadelphia, Linnea spent her childhood gardening with her horticulturist grandparents. Absorbing their knowledge and inheriting their passion, she developed a natural affinity for the world of plants.

In her initial career as a Senior Design and Strategy Consultant for a major tech company, she worked out of numerous corporate offices around the country learning first hand the value of natural elements in the work environment.

Feeling drawn to address what she saw as missing in those environments, Linnea went back to school to study horticulture so as to finally merge her design skills with her horticulture knowledge with the intent of starting a biophilic design business.
